Alcoholics Anonymous Southern Solano County, CA
Central Office Meetings and Positions

The Central Office Service Committee

The Central Office Service Committee meets at 7:00 pm on the first Wednesday of the month at our Central Office, located at 529 Capitol Street in downtown Vallejo, CA.

Representatives from our area meetings and the various Central Office Committee Positions meet to discuss avenues to ensure the hand of A.A. remains outstretched to members of our community. The range of meetings and individual committments in our area is outstanding.

Through the process of rotation, etc., several positions are available this summer of 2004. Central Office Committee Positions coming open in July or currently unfilled are: Chairperson, Volunteer Scheduler, Recording Secretary, Meeting Schedule Coordinator, Monthly Birthday Speaker Meeting Chairperson(s), and Newletter Editor. Sobriety requirement for all positions is one year continuous sobriety. The term for all positions are for one year. Please attend the next Central Office Service Committee meeting should you be interested in one of these enriching committments.

Central Office Staffing

Our Central Office location at 529 Capitol Street in downtown Vallejo, CA, is kept well-supplied with approved books, pamphlets and other literature. Ideally, this office is open weekdays from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Volunteer staff persons sell books and answer the phone, often being the first contact with A.A. a prospective member may have.

We are unable to keep the office open if volunteers are not available to fill the shifts. The morning shift is from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; the afternoon shift from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Currently, the positions open for staffing the Central Office (i.e. when the Central Office is now closed) are: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, and both morning and afternoon on Thursday. Please contact Central Office or your home group Central Office Representative if you would like to fill one of these needed open shifts.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. *
